Shaving bowl

B&B,
This morning as I got ready to shave I noticed that the horn shaving bowl that I got at Christmas last year seems to have been dropped and chipped on the rim. I wouldn't care if it didn't make it possible to get cut. But, since I hold it in my palm, I run the risk of it cutting me. So my question is for those of you that use a bowl to lather, do you know of any bowls that look good on the counter as well as perform well when they are used. Any suggestions will help because I would rather consult people who have used a particular bowl than just take a shot in the dark. Thanks.
Michael

Schwarz Weiß Keramik (black white ceramic)

I have a black & white freestyle mug that feels great in the hand, is very functional & looks the mut's!

i've been using a G5 for a while but I'm also looking for a change. The G5's bowl is too small so my bigger brush handles clang against the sides. I think I'd like a 4inch minimum diameter to be safe. The new G12 looks like a possibility but there are practically no reviews out there (it was just released). That captain's choice bowl looks very nice!

Clumsy guys like me have come to the conclusion that things that can break with they hit the floor do not belong in my shave den. If I saved up all the lathering bowls, mugs, scuttles that I've broken over the years, I'd have quite a pile of glass and ceramic pieces. I've gone all plastic, with no adverse effect on the lather. My current favorite is a plastic salsa bowl, more correctly called a "molcajete," such as this example from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Winco-Plastic...F8&qid=1378942516&sr=1-21&keywords=salsa+bowl

Thanks for all of the options and responses. Yes, unfortunately, my little boy got a hold of it and decided he would use it to hammer the ground. I didn't know until my wife informed me. I am really careful with my stuff so I am not worried about breaking it myself but now I need to make sure that the bowl is out of his reach. I would do the epoxy thing but seeing as how the bowl cost like 14 dollars I wouldn't want to spend half of what I bought it for on epoxy. Also, that captains choice bowl looks awesome so I am starting to think that might be the one.

Georgetown Pottery scuttle. I, too, worry about dropping pottery, milk glass, and the like, but I try to keep it all over my shaving towel. Haven't had a problem in over three years. It is nice for the lather to be at least body temperature for the shave.
