Shaving Bowl Type

I'm wondering if people prefer their shaving bowls with a handle grip or a bottom base grip.

I have a custom Bill Bowl from Dirty Bird with the handle. It's really more of a thumb loop so that the bowl sits in the palm of your hand with your thumb through the loop. Makes it very secure for whipping up a great lather.

Interesting. Do you find that the bowl is heavy on the thumb? I know it sits on the palm, but is there any type of force needed by the thumb? The reason why I don't typically like a handle is because my hand gets tired from holding the bowl (plus pottery tends to be heavier).

The bowl sits in my palm with my fingers curled around it and that holds the weight. My thumb is more for stabalization than holding. While the bowl is solid I don't find it to be overly heavy. I've never had my hand get tired from holding it and in fact find it quite comfortable.
