Shave-ready straight, no strop

Hi everybody!

I have only been DE shaving the past few months, and recently aquired a shave-ready straight on the B/S/T. It is oiled currently. I however have no strop or oil. Should I pick up a strop and oil before jumping in and giving this thing a try, or am I okay to give it a go as is? It was quite inexpensive so it will probably end up being a razor to practice honing and stropping.

Thanks for any advice!

Thanks,
Kája

take a pair of worn blue jeans...pull em over a chair....pull tight down on jeans and start stropping..worked for me for 3 months before i got my combo strop...30-50 laps back n forth....:wink2:

Newspaper will do the trick. Put it on a flat surface to strop, no pressure, the edge and the spine must be flat on the paper while you strop.

Keep in mind, paper does not equal leather. The edge won't be as smooth but it will remain sharp longer compared to not stropping the razor at all.
