Shark Blades

I am curious how they rate to Astra SP or Gillette Silver Blues? I may have to pop on some if they are great blades.

I'm about two months in, so this may be a pretty uneducated opinion. However, ASP and GSB are the two best blades I've used thus far (including Feather) and Shark was one of my biggest disappointments.

Shark super chromed are pretty good. I prefer Astras, but I've had good shaves from Sharks. Ymmv.

For me, they are average at best. For me, they felt like they were kind of scraping my face, not as smooth as I would like. I like the Astras much better.

I had good shaves with this blades in my Slim Boy and Ibsen slant bar. In all the other razors they were horrible.

I bought 100 a month or so ago from WCS and the blades give a pretty good shave. I would say these are in between a Derby and a UK Personna.

I've used both the Super Chrome and the stainless. Didn't like the SS but the SCs gave OK shaves. There are other blades that I like better so I won't buy them again.

Got on well with the stainless ones, found them pretty good and would be happy to have some more.

Just working my way through a couple of packs of the Super Chrome but not enjoying those, the shaves seem a little bit rough and especially so after the first shave. Won't be getting any more of the Super Chromes.

Cheers, Paul

Same here, bought 100 super stainless along with 2 years worth of green astras from bestshave.net

Turns out i actually like the sharks more than the astras and especially so when the astras have way more wax on them than the sharks, clogs up the razor insides.

Will be getting a good few more sharks, once i managed to use up enough of the green astras :001_rolle

Shark SC are my favourite blade thus far. Only been experimenting with blade samples for a short while but so far- they're top of the pile.

Some time ago I bought a sleeve of Shark SuperChrome and I really liked them. In my opinion they were better than Astra SP and many other blades I tried, very sharp and amazingly smooth. The wrapper was white with blue writing. Very little wax, clean and shiny blade. I was so impressed I bought another sleeve when found them on sale. This time the wrapper was yellow with red writing. I tried these blades and they are of lower quality for sure. The last batch I have with yellow and red wrapper is definitely less sharp and they pull quite a bit.
So I can only conclude that Shark is not consistent. If you are lucky you will get the good ones. I did buy a pack of Shark SuperStainless and they do not compare with the original SuperChrome. I would say that the SuperStainless I tried were the same as SuperChrome in yellow/red wrapper.

I still have about 80 Shark SuperChrome with white/blue wrapper and should bring them out in the den again.

I ordered 100 of them and just got them in yesterday (Super Stainless). I havent had a chance to try them out yet, but they seem to get a good report here on the forums.
Also purchased 200 Supermax (I know they got mixed reviews), but after shaving with Derby for 7 months, I thought it was time for a change.

I have a large collection of shaving soaps / creams, but it never occured to me that I was only using one type of blade! And so starts the purchasing of endless blade types!

I've found blades to be the ultimate in YMMV. A blade that is someone else's butter smooth top-performer is my face's garden weasel. And vice-versa. I have some Sharks, some Astras, and GSBs. All work well and I would buy them again. Each one works best in a different razor. Just get a sample pack or trade for a few and try them for yourself. It's the only way to see if they work for you.

You know, a thread on matching which blade works best in which razor would be cool. Of course, it would be specific to the person running the test.
