Sexism...

Went into Boots today to get SWMBO some sort of A/S balm as now SWMBO has a new EJ razor and brush she has taken to DE shaving like a duck to water. Anyway there aren't really any aftershave products for women. Boots is a catch all drugstore, for those that don't know, it does everything to do with health and beauty. So I went up to a female member of staff and explained what I was looking for. She was horrified that a woman was using a traditional safety razor and I quote "They are only for old men." Anyway she pointed me in the direction of a suitable product. I was just shocked by the attitude.

Some of the prominent brands have floral scents that women could certainly enjoy. That's not to say they're feminine scents inherently. Trumper's comes to mind especially.

I suppose, you should see the his and hers shave den we have going on. I still have more stuff than her though.:001_smile

 I will only be a matter of time maybe  (maybe the ADs won't be so bad for her) I'm lucky my wife swears by her electric she can use in the shower.

Perhaps an baby oil type product or cocoa butter oil would be a good AS for a woman's legs. Will make them shiny, smooth and soft....and smell like chocolate. :w00t:

We have this at home and my wife loves when I use it for massages.

I was looking at Cocoa Butter, but I got her some Rose and Geranium skin balm for now. I figured that should go well with her TOBS Rose cream.

You should have seen the look on the shop assistants face when I, proudly, told her what I had bought my wife to shave with. With that and the 'old man only' comment she made you would have though I was forcing my wife to shave with a rusty axe and not a precision made razor with a precision blade.

I've seen this from men as well as women. In some cases, it might be more about ageism than sexism. I recall last year I was at shopper's and a couple of "youngsters" were speaking about shaving brushes and how they were "for old dudes that smell funny". Now, I know why a lot of older people are sometimes grumpy.

Cue an old man pulling a straight razor on the brats.

I bet they said this as they were browsing the Axe display!:001_smile

It was in the posh perfumy bit of Boots in Truro, the closest counter to the skin care and shaving bit. She was a right stuck up mare, I don't think she was a nice Cornish lass like SWMBO.

Yup that does sound about right, every time i walk through you can see they have this la-dee-dah attitude about them, i wouldn't worry about the stuck up assistants.

Just walk past and be better than them, such folk are vacuous and shallow anyway. :wink2:

Emmets eh lol.

Vacuous, that is an ace word.

Yup, means they're devoid of anything ie empty. :wink2:

But anyway i wouldn't get pent up about it, i see them all the time and i just blank them out, they really don't like it.

Not to be flip, but why would you assume that the average clerk in a mainstream store would know anything about your niche hobby? Are you all up on the latest developments in model trains or comic book collecting or the new Twilight movie?
