Semogue LE 2011 Bristle 2 mixed feelings (shedding)

Today my Semogue Limited Ed. 2011 Bristle 2 finally arrived. It has been a long wait, ordered before Christmas, package got stolen (driver forged my signature and left it at my doorstep where it got stolen, I live in one of the busiest streets of town and that while he could have given it to the barber or butchershop next door)

Anyway Nassrazurshop from Germany send me a second package (great service btw from Stefan).

What could be more nice than trying out a new brush and a new razor (R41)? Well it was not as nice as I would have liked it. I noticed that the brush lost lots and lots of hair, this is what was left in the sink after draining the water (lots more must have washed away with the shaving water).

Never had a Semogue that lost more then the occasional hair or two when new. On the bright side the brush performed very good for a first use (wish I would have taken a photo of my lathered face with all the boar hairs sticking out). I really like the feel of the brush when lathering, I'll have to see what happens tomorrow and the next few times I use it. ah well everyone gets a brush sooner or later with some issues I suppose. O I got a very very nice shave with the lather it made combined with the Mühle R41, great razor, can't really understand why so many find it super aggressive on the forums.

Hopefully it will stop. It's the only boar brush I've kept for any period of time although I no longer reach for it. But don't give up on it. Maybe you should tell the vendor and give them a heads-up about the problem.

glad you finally got your brush but why it's shedding i have no clue. i have the le 1 and so far it's a work horse, i mean boar

Ron, wow, that is unfortunate on both accounts. i hope you can resolve the issue. i have never had an issue with any Semogue brush. Good luck, my friend.

Those look like very short hairs in the photo - I wonder if your knot just happened to get a lot of short offcuts caught in it?

@teddyboy: I don't want to bother the seller again as he already had to ship my package twice because of theft, who knows how long he will have to wait before they pay him for the loss.

@celestino, thanks for your condolence, I have never had any issue with a Semogue either, in fact it's my favorite brush maker when you consider price/quality.

@Oscroft, you might be right, I hope so, I'll know tomorrow.

I don't really worry about it that much, after all I bought some of the most hyped brushes on this and other forums only to be sometimes disappointed by them, and that's ok too, it's only a hobby.

This is the message I got from Stefan (nassrazur.com) the seller:

Sorry about the brush - -I doubt that this is a problem
with the brush, I fear it simply skipped the last step:
combing! When the brush is ready, lose hair is removed
with a fine comb and this brush obviously still had them
all in when you got it. Don't worry, it will stop losing
hair after only a few uses, promised!

And he (and you guys) seem to be right, the brush hasn't lost a hair this morning. Must indeed have been because they didn't comb it. Like yesterday the brush performed very good. A happy man after all :)

I'm glad this worked out for you. I LOVE my bristle 2 and, even though I got it used, I don't think it's lost a hair yet. It feels like the Simpsons Chubby of boar brushes. Even though my SOC is much less dense than my bristle 2, it's hard to have a winner between the two.

Man I would have freaked out if that happened. And then been really confused the next day when it stopped all the sudden. Glad it worked out in the end for you. Sounds like a good vendor too. Good customer service.

Update: No more hair loss after that first time. And the Bristle 2 is so soft on the face, makes great lather very fast and I'm very very happy with it.

Glad to hear you got this sorted out. I have a Bristle 1 and it sets a high standard for other boars to try to meet.
