Semogue 1438 vs 1305

I have Semogue 1438 and like that little beauty. Nevertheless, I don't seem to get used to its handle. Does 1305 provide with more comfortable grip?

I have both brushes and they are vastly different in my opinion. The 1305 was used by me exclusively for several months and I purchased the 1438 as a face lathering boar alternative to a "Chubby" type brush. The 1305 has lost a bit of luster with me more than likely because I have been alternating mostly between both a current production Simpson Duke 3 and a Somerset era Duke 3. The 1305 has taken a bit of a back seat because of this. The handle on the 1305 is very user friendly. Nicely designed.

I have both and the 1438 is a fantastic little brush plus it's a real beauty but I have no problems with the handle tho......to answer your question the 1305 handle gives a more comfortable grip if I were to compare the two

Thank you for the replies! I do like the painted handle of 1305, but I do drop things and paint will eventually chip off... to makes things even worse I am a perfectionist... Probably 1800 is the way to go.

I am also considering 830 mostly because of its plastic handle, which is more durable, IMHO.

or have Rudy Vey make you an acrylic Semogue-Type handle with a transplanted Semogue knot. i've seen them on here and 1 in person, they are phenomenal looking. pretty sure he will transplant it for you, or you can easily put the new knot in if you can get it with the correct diameter. the knots just pop right of those semogues and it's all housed in a metal jacket....see here

the look and feel of the semogue handle, but in acrylic so no paint to worry about and with the same knot.

Funny you say that.... My lovely wife Melissa dropped my 1305 and then had to glue back a chunk of the base of the handle.

IF.... I was going to purchase another Semogue, it would be the SOC brush in Cherry

Wow.. very interesting! Makes sense to consider a replacement handle when the original beauty is damaged. Thank you, Brucered.

I hear you. Too bad Semogue does not offer many boar brushes with acrylic handles.

I have both and the handle of the 1305 is vastly more comfortable, at least for me. Check out the 1250 as well. I have one- IMO it's an underrated brush, and I don't think the wood finish would chip if you were to drop it.

Unlike my 1305....
