Seating FatBoy

love my FB but recently clicked to "1" and then pushed on the feet and there was some give - is this normal or is there gunk inside that is impeding the motion ? - have only had it couple months and it was rated "near mint"

Are you taking about the resistance when you twist the knob mechanism the last bit before it's completely closed? And is this happening with every adjustment setting?

When I put the setting on 1 and close it all the way with the dial it does not allow me to push my FB down any further. Are you turning the knob all the way until it won't go any further?

Are you talking about the 4 bars inside the blade compartment - the extensions of the collar right above the adjustment ring? Mine all go down to just above level at the 1 setting ..

Without a blade in position the coller & attached bars will slide up and down at any of the adjustment positions. Once a blade is in place the bars & collar are forced to the lowest position against the adjustment ring.

at 2-9 the bars hold position even if I press a little with my finger - at "1" though I can push the bars down a little more - I just wanted to see if others with FB's experience this ?

Those 4 bars are attached to the collar that rides up & down the handle above the adjustment ring - can you push the bars up (from below the blade tray) when in the 2-9 positions?

What I am saying, albeit badly, is that the bars will move until there is a blade locked down on top of them - their height is determined by turning the adjuster .. You may want to see this article about Fatboy takedowns ..

you said it very well - it wasn't easy for me to frame my question but this last post of yours turned the switch for me - the collar does indeed move up in positions 2-9 - and so naturally I should expect it to move down a little from position "1" - I never thought to test the upward movement - feeling silly - thanks for sticking with the question and thanks for your time .

Ask the hostess. She will seat your FatBoy along side a single Lady Gillette. :tongue_sm

good response - given a chance this post could go in another direction very quickly - I should have titled the post " FatBoy Blade Angle Ajusters" but then I wouldn't have gotten your clever response.

but my question now is "who's a Buckeye ?"
