Seamogue 2000, lather breaking dow

Hey Boar Users.

I have been using my Seamogue 2K on a regular basis to get it broken in.

Something that has me stumped, and aggravated, is I load up the brush real well, face lather and by the time i am done with my first pass I grab the brush and most of the thick luxurious lather I created has broken down.

Am I not getting enough water out of the brush before loadin? Do I need to double my load time from my Badgers? Any help you can impart to help me correct this problem is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If you are loading plenty of soap (and a boar should load pretty well) the other part of the equation is the amount of water in your lather. Because a boar brush tends to hold less water than a badger, you will need to add water slowly to build your lather- without enough water, your lather can have considerably less volume than is optimal.

The 2000 is good for 2 good lathers and maybe 3 if all the stars, sun and moon are lined up. I've tried it with Tabac, MWF, Euro Palmolive, Arko and others - count on 2 "good" passes - and the third is usually disappointing (and yes, I know the drill, load longer and watch the water) I didn't like it and ended up selling it. I'm going to get a Semogue SOC Boar at some point - it's bound to be better. On the other hand, my Omega 49 will easily hold 3 passes and generally a decent 4th - no special "recipe" needed for the Omega 49, load it and go - it's just that simple.

If you shake out your boar, your loosing the water for your lather. Boar hair absorbs water (especially water from lather), so if you load a dry brush, the bristles will soak in all the H20. Soak the brush for 3~5 min, let drip out (dont shake more than once), load heavily, and lather the very damp brush. Thats what works for me with boars. Good luck!

I'm with you here...I have a 1250 and can never get more than 2 passes out of it. My Proraso/Omega brush on the other hand will hold enough stable lather for 3 + passes and loads with out any secret formula being required.
