Can anyone recommend where I can get a sample of either the Sea Buckthorn cream or soap? I would really like to get an idea of the scent, at least (if not performance) before I buy a full-size of this rare creature.

I don't have the cream or I'd send you some. The soap is $7 at theenglishshavingcompany, and I'm sure you could ask them to toss in a sample of the cream. Oh, and it's delicious. Careful that you don't pop the puck in your mouth as soon as you get a wiff of it.
The cream is excellent and I think it smells fantastic.
A really far-from-middle-of-the-road smell.
I have it, and see if I can find a simple solution to send you a sample (as long as you are not somewhere far, far away).

I see you're in the Netherlands. I'm here in the USA Midwest. Please don't put yourself out if it's more than a tiny amount to send. Regardless, I greatly appreciate the offer.
You won't regret buying a tube. I have a sample that is all dried up and it's still great stuff. The scent is one of my favourites.

I got a sample when I ordered a new brush from them a few weeks back.
I wasn't as impressed as some of the other comments here, but YMMV.
It has a strong apple smell to me in the package, but once it had been whipped up the scent pretty much disappeared.

I am a big fan of EJ creams. They are top notch and get very little mention.
EJ Sandalwood ASB is probably my most favorite scent in my collection of AS/ASB.
My brother-n-law got a sample when he ordered and EJ razor. I was very eager to get a whiff. Apricots.
EJ scent library, while small, is absolutely superb. All 3 of their fragrances are delicious.
I recently picked up 4, 100 ml tubs of EJ Sea Buckthorn cream from Ebay. The seller was in Bulgaria and it took 2 weeks to get here, but it was well worth it! Also purchaed 3, 100ml tubs of EJ Sandalwood cream. The price was really good, thus the reason for buying so many.
The EJ Sea Buckthorn cream really does smell great. Darjeeling Express sent me a sample of it and the EJ Sandalwood Cream when I bought a razor for my wife from him. My wife thinks the Sandalwood cream smells a little feminine, and in some ways, I agree. I do like it, though. I used it last night, after my shave, and it works very well. I could still catch whiffs of it all day today, even though I took a shower this morning.
Had a sample of this, but it's gone. Would have been happy to send it to you. This will probably be the next cream I buy. Just went looking for the best price, $19.95:
