SE Newbie Question

Hello Gents,

I've recently picked up a few GEM's and I'm ready to try them out, so I've been looking for some blades. By looking at the SE Shave o' the day forum, it appears that most of you prefer the "GEM stainless PTFE coated blade." Is this the 'standard' GEM SE blade that I'm seeing at Wal-greens, CVS, online, etc.?

This blade here :

Just wanted to make sure I'm getting a decent blade.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, these are great blades. Some people get them from Ted Pella in a bulk box (needs to say "Coated"), I've heard several people theorize that they're the same blades in different packaging. I can use these GEM Personnas from Wal-greens for a bunch of shaves, love them. The CVS, GEM Blue Star, Treet, etc. carbon steel blades are good too, but you have to dry them off after each shave or they'll quickly rust on you. Investigate some youtube videos to learn technique before your first single-edge shave, the angle at which you hold the razor is different from double-edge razors. Enjoy!

excellent info, guys (as usual).

I think I'll pick up a pack at Walgreen, and definitely check out the videos on youtube.
