Schiphol airport

will be passing through the netherlands via schiphol airport,no chance to leave the airport, but I will have 3 hours layover until the next flight...I want to pick up some aftershave, but signs are posted that you need to buy all liquids 4 hours in advance, and the airport will load them onboard for you...any idea how strict they are about the 4 hour rule? I want to grab a few aftershaves, but don't want to board the plane and later find they never got loaded...

Haven't been to that airport specifically, but my experience has been that they hew to those timelines very strictly. They won't even sell you the product if your board pass shows a flight time of less than 4 hours.

NB to Sparky - he's talking about a duty free shop at the airport. They don't let you carry or mail stuff to yourself, as the products are intended for export and they don't want people turning around and walking out of the airport with the stuff.

How's the weather?
Are you prepared for a wait?

on my way to a small village on the bottom steppe of mount kilimanjaro....I got my ticket 3 months ago...if worse comes to worse,I will have to stay a day or two in amsterdam.that will give me a chance to buy something in town,if I can stand the cold....the airport here in san francisco has been brutal...some guys have been stranded 3 days, and the airlines have not given out any meal or hotel vouchers, which I believe is now illegal under the airline passenger act...I'm retired,so,as long as I can go and come SAFELY I feel good about it...

There have been lots of photos on the news of Schipol full of camp beds and thousands of stranded people. Better than Thiefrow in London though. There they are in tents outside with no beds!

Good luck.
