Schick Plus Platinum

I don't want to start fighting with people for the few that pop up on eBay but these are an incredibly smooth blade. Probably the smoothest I've used. I'm 3 shaves into one and it's been BBS each time. No weepers, no irritation, nothing. Just extremely smooth skin. I'll be interested to see how the longevity goes but generally if I can get 7, triple pass shaves out of a vintage blade, I'm happy.

They are great blades. I was lucky to find a full box of them recently. The combo of a Krona with a Plus Plat blade is perfect for my face.

And with that dispenser you have the option of refilling it with other blades when it's empty. (one of the few you can do that with)

I was introduced to DE shaving by a buddy who gave me a '51 SS and a few packs of these blades. Apparently his grandfather gave him a ton of stuff, and he gifted these to me. After trying Shark SC, Derby Extra, Feather, Merkur and generic Walgreens blades (which were simply awful), these Schicks were far and away my favorite.

I got 4 solid shaves per blade myself. Reeeaally wish they were still readily accessible.

They are indeed one smooth blade, probably one of the smoothest blades ever made (next to the Light Brigade).

Sadly, I could never seem to get a close shave with them . . . perhaps it was the razor.

I have several packs of these as well. I will say they are just as bad as the Gillette Spoilers. Now if you want to find some GREAT shaves, fight it out for the old carbon steel blue blades. Me, I'm trying to take the plus platinums, and spoilers out of the wild so more people don't get turned off of DE shaving.:001_rolle

Funny... I've been trying to do folks the same favor

I bought 50 of these in a BIN on the 'bay -- guy seemed to have a lot of them. I have yet to try them. I'm actually worried about trying them, lest I like them too much.

UPDATE:
Well, It's been five shaves with the same blade -- and it's still cutting beautifully. I'm not sure how many shaves is normal for this blade, but I'll shoot for a couple more.

I've been able to push mine to ten shaves but I just use all my vintage blades now for a week (full 7 days). It makes it easy to remember when to change the blade.

I bought a pack of these for $1 at a flea market. Now I just wish I could find more. I've only used one blade from the pack and am saving the rest for special occasions.

This comment intrigued me. I opened my blade bank and pulled my Plus Platinum out and loaded it up. This is the fourth shave from this blade and it feels as good as new. I replaced the blade after three because that seems to be what I get out of the modern blades in my pile. I'll probably give it at least another one or two before I re-retire it.

I've been using Schick Plus Platinum blades for approximately 25 years.
While growing up my parents owned a small grocery business that sold these.
When the store closed in the late 80s my mom asked me if I could use some blades. Of course I said yes! She handed me milk crate full of packaged blades!
With the exception of trying an occasional recommended blade, I haven't needed to purchase blades my entire adult life!
I still have a good amount left but with a sixteen year old double edge shaver in the house I think our stock of blades is going to diminish. :001_smile
