I hope they shave very well. It is amazing to think that they retailed at about 18 cents each, ca. 1968. With inflation, the price today would be well over $1 each. I have some Krona Comfort Edge blades on a card labeled M-68-95, 68 cents for a five-pack, just under a dollar each today.

The Krona-Chrome was the blade that got Eversharp in trouble with the FTC in 1970, probably right in the middle of the sale to Warner-Lambert. Eversharp had run commercials showing the corrosion on a Schick Super Stainless blade after five shaves, compared to a Krona Chrome. The FTC decided that the advertising was deceptive, possibly damaging the Krona brand. After that happened I can find very little evidence of advertising for Krona-Chrome blades. Around the same time, the Schick Plus Platinum was introduced.

So in short they backstabed their own product (Schick Super stainless) to promote the New Schick Krona-Chrome and it backfired ?

My initial thought is they will behave like a BIC chrome. Purely speculative though

Wouldnt it be funny if Gillette tried the same thing today? Bad mouth the M3 turbo to promote the Fusion? :)

I have several of the 2 packs of the Krona-Chrome blades also from 1968 and I like them a lot. They are very sharp and nice and smooth. I would compare them to Gillette 7 O'clock yellow. If you don't like them feel free to send them my way. Just to let you know, they may be difficult to get out of the dispenser because whatever lubricant was used on them has dried out. If that happens just take apart the dispenser and separate the blades.

I had the same problem with my with my Personna Super Platinum Chrome, small price to pay to shave with quality.

In a broader context, Schick claimed that the new Krona-Chrome blade would outlast any super stainless steel blade, including their own. They had nothing to lose in making this claim because the Krona Super Stainless Steel blade was already being phased out, and they were replacing it with a superior product.

I hear they are very good blades.

They're awesome! I own... well... many. I put one into rotation every 2 months and at that rate I'll die with some leftover. (I'm in my late 40's).

They're sharp and smooth and suit my style well. For context, I also like Personna Red & Blue, Feather, Voskhod, Sputnik, etc, and Gillette Super Stainless.

You're lucky!

I've just too much blades to try, that why I havent tried them yet. I was going to open a pack and try them for my next shave BUT I put my hands on a pack of P74* :D There is also the Personna Super Platinum Chrome that I purchased and the Spoilers and the Blue Blades and the Thin blades : /

Edit: Forgot the mention the Gillette Française Inoxidable (Stainless).

I found this advertising. No wonder the FTC sanctioned them.
I've been shaving for a week with a Schick Super Stainless... this ad is pure BS.

I have a bunch of these blades about 100+ - they have been removed from the blister pack and stored inside a box in my Mom's basement for - oh - 25 years or more!! Does anyone think they have value from a shaving point of view or sale...perhaps on the B/S/T forum?

Only if moisture or excessive air has not oxidized the sharp edge.Only testing a few will tell, and if the shaves are fine, many here on the forum would be glad to take them off your hands .

Luckily, it seems like no oxidation has occurred, and they were stored in a sealed cardboard container in a cool, but moisture free basement...I think when I opened the box they were in, it was the first light of day they had seen for several decades! However, they do seem to have the same sliding out of the container problem since the lubricating agent is dried away...it would probably be best to open the razor package and remove them....does anyone think they would be of value on B/S/T? I am a Gillette Silver Blue and Voskhod guy...so I don't think I'll want to use these...rather not throw them away either!

I have some of them in my stash, they give me about 3-4 smooth shaves.

I just tried a Krona Chrome blade for the first time & it is very good and seems to be for all intents & purposes the same blade as their Super Chromium for the most part.

Klaatu barada nikto ! Holy necro-thread, rise from your ashes!

While doing some researches, I found this advertising in the Pittsburgh Press ( Jul 20, 1970). It's only a theory but I believe that after the scandal with the FTC, things cooled off & Schick just re-introduced the Krona-Chrome as Super Chromium. Makes more sense than dashing a good product & introducing a new one.
