Scent Unsniffed

Greetings B&B team,

I'm not much of an aftershave guy. I do have Tabac after shave and cologne, and I like that a great deal. I use it about once a week, whenever Tabac finds its way into my rotation.

AoS lavender scented balm is something I enjoy too, but that doesn't come in a cologne. More often than not I shave with Proraso, without any aftershave at all.

So, here's my question, understanding what I *do* like, I'm placing an order soon for some blades and wanted to add some after shave at the same time, but I don't have the opportunity to smell it in advance, so it will come scent unsniffed, so to speak.

What would you recommend as a scent you'd recommend for someone like me and my limited aftershave experience?

I won't complain if I don't like it! Just looking for some ideas.

If you enjoy Proraso cream or soap, I'd suggest Proraso splash to top it all off. Although Proraso splash has gone through a recent re-formulation and I'm not familiar with the new scent, I can vouch for the old version as being great and highly soothing without being too heavy. Word around here is that the new scent is VERY close to the old one. It IS mentholated, though (like the cream & soap), so if that's a turn-off for you please ignore this...

I don't mind mentholated; we live in Phoenix, so a cool shave year round isn't bad. I was on Westcoast today and there's two different aftershaves, one that is mentholated and one that, erm, isn't I guess. Is there a significant difference?
I assumed that they smelled the same.
[EDIT]
It looks like they have the old formula and new formula available. At least that's how I'm reading the product copy.

You are correct: Proraso re-formulated their entire line about a year ago, and there are both new and old stock still available. Although I only have experience with the older Proraso splash, the word around here is that the scent of the new formula is very close to the original and the new formula, while still mentholated, has it dialed back a bit.

My suggestion: to avoid frustration, I'd just go with the new stock--there's nothing worse than finding your perfect product only to see ever-dimishing quantities and higher and higher prices due to it being discontinued. Ignorance can, indeed, sometimes be bliss! Good luck in your quest, and keep us all posted.

My thoughts exactly! Thx for the advice.
