I finally got my glass plates, attached the (aluminum/silicon carbide) lapping films to the glasses - 15, 5, 1 and 0.5 microns. The price is probably the cheapest option for multiple grit sizes, especially so fine, and it seemed to work fine for my razor. It's remained to be seen how long it will keep but I'm optimistic.
