I know, what a pathetic thread title that is. But the wife and toddler are at her mother's so I have time to play.
Today I bought a pack of Blue Star and a pack of Treet. Used each in my Damaskene with it's spanking new (old) fat black handle.
Verdict: the Treet is noticeably smoother and cuts better. My problem areas were BBS in 2 passes, with only a few minor weeps. The Pal is the only other razor that can do that for me.
Blue Star isn't quite as good...does not feel quite as sharp and doesn't take off whiskers as fast as the Treet...but it's still better than the regular Gem stainless blades I'd bought way back when I started hanging around here. Those Gems either wouldn't cut my whiskers or ripped me up doing so. They are what caused me to write off SEs in the first place, I now realize. What's left of them is going to be relegated to the paint scraper, where they belong.
Too bad the Treets cost a buck more than the any other shaving SE, and are only available at Rite Aid, at least around here.
I now look forward to finding out how the Treets do in an open comb Micromatic I picked up, and then compare them with the Ted Pellas.
Anyway, I'm glad for the constant input from guys that cause me to reexamine what I've been doing. First I wrote off injectors b/c my technique wasn't honed yet, as I learned here...now I swear by them. Now I'm very pleased to add an SE back into my regular rotation...again, thanks to the constant experimentation you guys do.
