What's new

Sads

Lets say, hypothetically, that ... ehm ... a ... friend accidentally broke the tip off the nib of his Parker 51. Is there any hope for my ... friend's ... pen?

The pen, yes....the nib, probably not. This friend should probably scour the interwebs and find another Parker 51 nib and replace it, lol. They're out there, some easier to find than others. Tell your friend good luck :)

I bought a nib for my 51 online was pretty easy to find I think it was in the $30 range for gold NOS. I can have a hunt around if you would like. Worse comes to worse I have my original bold nib I might be able to let go of

Maybe you need to give that friend a stern talking to. Maybe force them to join the forum and pif something to make up for his sin.

Good luck finding a nib, I mean for your friend.

Finding a nib is only half the battle for the record, replacing that nib is a whole new can of worms, you may want to consider sending it out for repair

Its easy to show wisdom, here let me show you all how to be a wise guy in the nib...

Tem, to resolve your problem you must do one of two things

A) what Brian says to do

or

B) what Nemo Doug says to do

I challenge you to find a wiser guy then me

Yeah, that nib is toast. Like others have said, those nibs are not difficult to find. You may want to send it out for repair, which will make things easier. They'll repair it and give it a professional cleaning. The hood of that pen is held in place with some kind of adhesive and it's difficult to remove. Without the right tools, it can be fairly easy to damage it. Fortunately, of those who work on pens, many are very familiar with the Parker 51.
