Rust Spot Near Cutting Edge

I have a small rust spot very close to the cutting edge of my straight. I have a tube of Maas that could probably clean off the spot. I can't really apply pressure to the spot because it's so close to the cutting edge and I don't want what I'm using to slip and dull the razor. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I would use a Q-tip, carefully. Use as little pressure as you can get away with. If the rust affects the edge at all, you will probably need to hone it regardless, or at least touch it up.

I lay the blade flat on something like a rubber mousepad that way when I clean the edge I usually haven't done any damage if I am very gentle and careful.
