Russian tea glasses

Those are pretty cool. Bit ornate for my taste but very nice looking none the less. Seems like another collection addiction that one could easily fall into... Podstakannik acquisition disorder (PAD).

We have a few. I remember using them as a kid. There's a nice Russian community in Sacramento that sells a bunch of Russian stuff. San Francisco as well.

Look for a European grocery in your area. I just discovered one near me, and I think they have those. (And the pastries are to die for! :w00t:)

Maybe because I live ex-USSR country, I've bad associations about these holders.
When I think about tea from glasses in metal casing, I instantly remember warm tea made in big (50-100 liters) pots, with a lot of sugar and taste of dish washing cloth in it. yuk.
BTW, as I know these holders were invented to handle glasses of hot tea in trains. Later they spread all over.
