Royall Vetiver mini review.

Hey gents,

I just got my LARGE bottle of Royall Vetiver today and tried it after my shave this morning. Pretty good stuff but does hover between a cologne (which it is marked as) and an AS. I used it like an AS so I posted this here.

First off let me just say that I applied a LOT of this on my face, neck, chest and forearms. This is not a straight Vetiver scent. It opens up very citrusy and a little on the sweet side. There are also (and excuse my unrefined sense of smell) hints of spice and clove. After about an hour, Royall Vetiver drys down to a more pure Vetiver scent. It is very clean and grassy smelling and very manly imho. This scent sticks around for about 5 hours before it dissipates beyond my ability to pick it up. Total duration of the scent was just over six hours so, like I said, it is definitely stronger than any of my AS splashes but does not have the staying power of, let's say, Paco Rabanne 1million. I did apply some to my shirt but changed it a few hours later so I will see if the scent is still present on the fabric when I get home.

Since I used this as an AS splash I will comment that it left my face feeling smooth, fresh and clean like most of my other high alcohol content splashes. I was surprised that it did not burn like Royall Lyme but that could be due to the exceptional shave I got today.

Overall, I like the product very much and am happy with the purchase. The 8oz bottle for 19 dollars was too good of a deal to pass up on and I am glad that I did not!

On another note, my fiance said it gave her a headache but I think that was mostly caused by me talking about it so much:001_unsur.

Thanks for sharing your impressions, Steve! I recently purchased the Royall sample pack with a tiny bottle of Vetiver included. I was going to save it for autumn, but maybe I'll move it up in the schedule now (after the Lyme, of course).

John,

Either way you can't go wrong there. Vetiver would be very nice in Autumn, luckily I think my 8oz will last til then. But the Lyme is a heavenly summer scent. SO refreshing! Enjoy!

Where did you guys find this for $19? I've been Googling like crazy & can't find it for under $28?

There's a 'bayer selling it for $22 delivered, mine just arrived today, the scent is phenomenal, can't wait to pair it with my QCS Vetiver soap for the first time tomorrow. It's not quite in the Alpa Fougere value range, but it's darn close. A nice, smooth, masculine scent for sure, grassy, earthy, but nice, subtle.

I like it but I find that if I mix it with bay rum to reduce its strength it is much more usable as a splash. It has a limey bay rum angle to it already so it mixes well. I just splash them together into my palm. Might give it a try and see what you think.
