Royall Rugby?

A fragrance as unique as the game itself. So, does it smell of sweaty blokes as the rugby changing rooms do?!!!

"Royall Rugby opens with top notes of rotting grass roots after three weeks of Scottish rain, freshly-churned mud, and cranio-facial blood. These give way to heart notes of sweaty socks, mouthguard, and prop armpit. The heart notes dry down to a long-lasting, warm base of unwashed compression short crotch."

:biggrin1: Close!

"A truly masculine fragrance that opens with a refreshing and aromatic touch of exotic dry wood. Geranium leaves and black currant unveil an earthy voyage with rugged notes of patchouli and vetiver which fuse with warm under laying nuances of incense suede. "

I'll have to see if I can escape for a moment or two during this year's Christmas shopping excursion to have a sniff (of the latter, not the former!).

Sometimes I wish I was a dog. They get such amazing experiences from crotches and armpits.

You don't have to pay for shipping from Europe to sample a sweaty armpit!

The game they play in heaven! Unfortunately, from time spent as a hooker I have experienced up close and personal the particular note of prop armpit.

The actual fragrance description sounds really good.

Perhaps I'm just from an older, Welsher, generation but our changing room always smelled of liniment, cigarette smoke and hangover... I retired at 28 cos the kids coming up had started fitness training that was more than 'run up and down that hill until you spew'

You, sir, are the man!
You have out-described the marketing wonks.

I do not know if I need a fragrance which owes its existence to missing teeth (I do have friends who play Rugby). I do have some curiosity now.

Hmmm, it sounds very interesting. I didn't see it in the store when I was there yesterday or I'd give a report on the scent, though they did have the rest of the Royall line-up on hand.

Someone buy some and let us know if it smells like the company's description or justinp's

I took a whiff of it yesterday in Vegas. I got a strong lime scent off the top note. It also contained some nice leather and woods elements, but I must admit my sniffer was not as fine as it should have been. Overall, a nice scent, but probably not one that to my mind is worth purchasing right away...

Folks,

I was up North in Massachusetts dealing with my fathers estate and I took some much needed time to go shopping in the big mall in Providence and decided to stop in Brooks Brothers. I headed for the fragrance area and was pleasantly surprised to find that Royall Bermuda has a new scent called "Royall Rugby". One whiff of the atomizer and I decided that it would have to come home with me! I wasn't aware of any one element that stood out but it did have a "green" and "fresh" scent to it and I didn't even apply it to see how it smelled in me I just knew I had to have it! In case you don't remember, I am addicted to Royall Muske and am having a difficult time with this addiction. Hopefully, this new Royall scent will put me on the road to recovery! Quite nice from what I remember!

Regards,
David

Also, when I went onto the Brooks Brothers site when I arrived home the "Royall Rugby" wasn't listed but today it is! Funny thing is that the Royall Bermuda site still doesn't have it listed!

Wow, there are lots of different takes on this fragrance, aren't there! I'll weigh in with mine.

I was in Brooks Brothers today and I happened to see a bottle of Rugby on the counter. Buying a new frag was the farthest thing from my mind--I wanted to get my white shirt and get on the road. I'm not much of a fan of Royall anyway and I'm a terrible rugby player, so I wasn't much interested. But I ended up going home with that bottle of Royall Rugby in my bag too.

Why? Well, the bottom line is that it's an excellent fragrance. Imagine a nice hybrid of Terre d'Hermes and Dunhill 1934. At $39 retail, no less--and there was a 25% off sale at BB today. It might not have the beautiful sharp citrus of the Hermes and it doesn't have the awesome vetiver-laden legs of the 1934, but it'll be a great summer frag. This bad boy is going in my shaving kit when I hit the road next month.

Two weeks into my experiment with using Rugby as one of my regulars. I like it more and more. It's both masculine and unobtrusive, and it goes great in warmer weather. It comes in a classic Royall Lyme bottle with the pewter cap; there's also an atomizer that you can add. I tried the atomizer for a day or two, then took it off again--I like the splash better. As I mentioned in my last post, it really reminds me of a lighter, more subdued version of Dunhill 1934. It's nice to see someone bring out something new that evokes a classic. If you're looking for something for regular use in the summer, get down to Brooks Brothers.
