I got a Rooney 3/1 and its great. However, I've used it for about 2-3 weeks straight and its lost about 10 hairs. Is that normal, or should I start to be worried?
It is very normal for a brush to lose some hairs during the first few weeks. After an initial break in period the brush will settle down and should stop shedding hairs. Losing 10 hairs from a Rooney in the first couple of weeks is totally normal ... don't worry at all
I've had a couple of Rooneys that were shedders. Here's the advice I was given (and it's in line with what Jeremy's saying):
When the brush is dry, comb it out to remove any more loose hairs. A few loose hairs are normal for in the manufacturing process. You only need to comb it out once.
Give it about a month. If you're still losing hairs after a month, contact your vendor. Most (if not all) are very good at making sure your brush is performing appropriately. My shedders were exchanged with no problems.
I'm returning my 3/1 for a replacement (Charles Nicholls in UK)
It's shed 1-2 hairs every time I've used it, mainly when vigourously shaking dry. After shaking, you can see hair poking out the top above the rest. Pulls out easy.
I expected a couple of hairs in the first week or so but I've had it well over 2 months now.
