RIP Maurice Sendak

Maurice Sendak, author of Where the Wild Things Are, passed away. He was 83. He wrote and illustrated many children's books.

Aw man, my kids are going to be crushed.

I think I read Where The Wild Things Are (and the German one, Wo Die Wilden Kerle Wohnen) to my 4 kids about 10,000 times altogether.

:-(

Its sad that he passed. I saw an interview with him on The Colbert Report. Let me tell you, he is one weird dude. Apparently, he hated Where The Wild Things Are (and pretty much everything else). I know those interviews are not set up to cast the interviewee in the best light, but man. Maybe he just got extremely senile in his old age.

Now THIS is a bummer. Rest in Peace, Mr. Sendak, you gave kids credit for being complicated and able to think for themselves, and the world is richer for it.

Little Bear, Where the Wild Things Are, One was Johnny, Chicken Soup With Rice, Allegators All Around, Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic... and so much more.
