Former Senator and 2000 Vice Presidential Candidate Joe Lieberman passed away on Wednesday at the age of 82 after complications from a fall.
Rest in Peace Joe.
One of last of the old school politicians who saw issues on a case by case basis, and the insane blind tribalism of modern politics seemed alien and maybe repugnant to him, a Democrat of the 50's and 60's tradition that Truman, Stevens and JFK would have identified with, although his dislike of party machinery may have puzzled them. He was politically a free thinker, and the Democrats shifted away from Lieberman, more than Lieberman shifted away from the Democratic Party.
His intense loyalty to his home state of Connecticut throughout his career was notable.
