Rimei Blades

Hi

I picked up a chinese DE razor yesterday whilst on Holiday in Vanuautu. All told, it was just under $4 for a cased Tech replica. The razor istelf is actually pretty good, and feels quite heavy.

It is branded rimei, and came with a blade with the same brand. I shaved with it for the last two shaves, and it surprisingly gave a really nice shave.

I at the same time bought a 5 pack of the blades (they cost under $1), but once those are gone, I dont know where to get more!

Has anyone seen them? Know where to get them? Google doesnt know..

I can post a pic of one later if that helps. The blades claim to be made in the USA, but they appear to be a Hong Kong company

post some pics of vanuatu in the darkroom forum....You are probably the only one who's been there...isn't their main export bat guano ??

As far as I know, American Safety Razor is the only American company still making blades for DE razors. Plus they OEM them for department store chains here in the states (Walgreens). They are actually pretty good blades but a $.60 a piece for the Walgreens variety they are pricey.

I can do that, will try later today. The internet here is quote spotty...

Coconut products by far would be the biggest export according to the locals!

Vanuatu also exports sandalwood oil. Don't think it's Santalum Album, tho -- prob. another species. I've never smelled it but everything I've read about it so far is NOT encouraging. If you get a chance, check some out while you're there. Would love to hear what you think!

Hi kjparker,

In the event that you have not gotten some info on your question, I picked one of those up where I currently live (Colombia) for around the same price, which was a bargain for down here, and was also pleased with the shave. I also thought it felt pretty heavy, and it appears to be of good quality for the price. As for the blades, I asked at a pharmacy and bought a pack of five Schick brand blades which have worked perfectly, I suppose this Rimei razor uses a standard type of blade, as I also bought and tried Minora brand blades (a Procter and Gamble product) and those worked perfectly as well.

Hope that helped,

TechMoe
