Looking for help with the history of a razor.
The brand is Barbershop ("Old fashioned shaving luxury"), which is know here and elsewhere for their '70s/'80s shaving soaps and mugs. They also had a gold cartridge razor that pops up now and then. Pretty sure they're long defunct.
But what I have is something I haven't seen anywhere else. It appears to be an exact (and high-quality) replica of a Merkur 34c, save for the Barbershop logo and "Solingen Germany" where the Merkur logo appears on the 34c. Does anyone know the history of this? Did Merkur ever license the 34c? Or did Barbershop just plain rip off Merkur? Barbershop appears to have been a US-based company.
Any insight appreciated!
