Rigo horse hair brush

Anyone ever heard of a "Rigo horse hair brush"? I just bought one of the bay. I couldn't find anything about brushes by the brand name "Rigo," but I have a good friend named Rigo to whom I may give this brush. I really like the look of it though. I've tried to get him to try using a safety razor by giving him a mild Gillette Super Speed, but after about 6 months he still hasn't tried it. This is why I will probably end up keeping the brush. That and the fact that I really like to color combination. It looks like two different butterscotch colors. I may have deruitem set a new knot in it for me, as I have yet to try my hand at restoring. Since I bought it with a "Peerless" nylon, I may try that one as my first restore. I know the nylon isn't the prettiest thing around, but I want to get an idea of how much epoxy goes into a handle, and try some of the techniques I've read about. Here's what they look like. I REALLY like the look of the Rigo.

Thanks for the compliments. So, no one can tell me anything about this brush?... I can't find any information on the brand at all. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing the condition of the brush, and possibly restoring it with a Silvertip knot.

I've pretty much accepted that I won't be finding any information on this brush/brand. I can't find any record of it. Oh well. I did receive the brush today, and I was pleasantly surprised when I examined the bottom- something the seller left out of his description on his listing...

You can't see it very well here, but I'll get a better pic and upload it later. It's kind of a pearl orange bottom. This brush is sweet! I can't wait to do a thread when I get around to restoring it.

Necropost revival!

According to the Miami Daily News, the Rigo brush was advertised for $1.00 in 1929.

I found a #7 today at a small second hand shop. The knot is shot, however, the handle is very nice. I will post pics of my green and cream colored Rigo, it has the same pearlescent bottom.

Did you ever restore yours?

Edit: Found your restoration post:

I read the article not long ago, which is one of the reasons why I no longer use antique brushes unless they have the “sterilized” phrase stamped into them and are in like new condition or NOS. Even then they get disinfected with a commercial bacteriacide, fungicide and virucide solution.

Most old (even NOS) hair is brittle, they shed or they are too floppy. This results in amost all my vintage brushes having the knot drilled out, cleaned, polished and a new knot installed.
