What's new

Right, this was kicking about downstairs so what do I do?

Fell out of my brothers bag when he was staying with me and as it looked so heavy I thought it would be better to keep it here so how do I hone it on my coti? $69D1AAF7-C274-4C8A-B85D-3869072942FC-631-0000013BD252C041.jpg$F6A54586-8272-434A-8C9E-C61B583BBB4C-631-0000013BCCB562BA.jpg$E0727AB1-9CE7-4A4A-9A14-802A76D1977D-631-0000013BC67B946D.jpg

Thanks for your help!

Do you have a less pristine one to practice on?

Honing is pretty simple, as long as you remember that the spine is made of very soft iron, meaning it will wear down astonishingly fast.

I am not usually a fan of tape, but it maybe prudent on this case.

The basic gist is you hone the wedge side, then run the hollow side once or twice to take off the "burr". You want to limit the number of laps done on the side with the writing.

Both the japanese methods here start with at least a 6000. Even Mizuochi-san of Iwasaki razors starts at 6-8.http://easternsmooth.com/blog/jim-rion/2011/06/07/270-iwasaki-sensei-lessons-learned-part-1
So the coticule is perfect in these cases. It doesn't look like its been through hell so I would go with the methods described. I guess for finish , as far as my experience with coticule and kamis, finish with water with no slurry. .

Now where the hell do I find oil to try something out.....

Thanks for the advice guys, had a quick shave with it last night, didn't need to as shaved the morning too but couldn't resist. Wow it's different! Might have to get me more of these, good shave and only one cut when going ATG on the second of two passes.
