Rhodium & Cigar Boxes

$P1000062.jpg$P1000058.jpgBought a few cigar boxes, re-finished them, lined them, and populated one with favorite razors, and the other with favorite blades. 2000 blades, and eleven razors. Razors (left to right); Rhodium Cobra, long-handle super-adjustable, Rhodium Tradere Solid-Bar, EJ Chatsworth Barley, Rhodium Tradere Open Comb, Nickel New Long Comb on Tradere handle, Rhodium Feather, Pils 101, Joris Palladium, Mergress Long-Handle, and 2009 R-41 on Tradere handle. Trying to think of a legitimate-sounding excuse for keeping them in the living room on the coffee table.
First time I've posted pics here, hope these can be seen.

So I'm not the only one who put his razors in a cigar box :D

Rhodium cobra? I've been told the cobra isn't such a hot replating candidate

Turns out it's not. I sent the Cobra, the Feather, and the two Tradere's to Reliable for plating. They did a spectacular job, but said they wouldn't be doing any more because of the difficulty of plating stainless with Rhodium.

Did you fasten the center platform in your box or is it free floating (the one with the razors)?

I am trying to figure out a way to keep my razors from sliding around in a drawer but I don't think SWMBO will let me glue or screw anything to the drawer in the cabinet she got for me

I glued a foam pad down that was sized to leave about a 3/8" gap all the way around the inside of the box. After you lay the cloth covering down with spray adhesive, the safety bar or comb of the razor head fits pretty snugly into the gap. On the sides I store some razor boxes. I also gave the same treatment to the inside of the lid, so that when you close the lid, the upper pad comes down onto the razors and holds them in place.

Well, shavepocolypse is coming. You've got to be ready. Soap, blades, brushes, back-ups for everything. And cigar boxes to stash it all in. Unless you got bucks, like Turtle. He's got cabinets. So when shavepocalypse comes, if you don't have plenty of shave stuff, be buddies with Turtle.

I thought Turtle had more razors than what was shown in his pic here. :confused1

Old pic and that was back when I had most of them stored in my office.

Due to take a new pic one of these days. I have the camera up there when I take my shave of the day pic but I don't remember to snap one of the razors in the cabinet for some reason. Old timer's disease I guess :confused1

They look super nice. Well thought out.

I was going to get some velveteen for the bottom of the drawer (cut to fit) then have a cabinet maker I know make me some slid together compartments that I could put into the drawer to separate the razors. I went to the fabric store a few days ago but they had MOVED... gees now I have to find somewhere else to go get some fabric. I need to get the fabric so I know how deep to make the dividers.

If you have a Michaels, or some other craft supply, they should have foam padding that you can cut to fit, and the felt cloth for the finish. They usually also have the spray adhesive you will need.
