I'm going to rescale a Wapi I just got and would like to reuse the wedge on it. I'd like to have all my parts ready before taking the Wapi apart so have the following question. Is the wedge on these reusable or is it welded onto the scales? It's hard to tell from looking at mine while it's all assembled.

yep. It'll be connected and not reusable.
I pop the pivot, release the razor, and never look back
LOL "Oh Luuuuucy you gots some splaining to do" God I love that line...
I would recommend not re-using it, as it is not wedged. It is simply a flat piece of metal "x"....

Oh, I know. I want to replicate the style of an unmodified Wapi but with lighter components. More details when I'm done with the project...

Well, it looks like at least mine wasn't welded. But it did look like someone tried to use chomium oxide paste as a glue. 
I have no other good explanation for the green stuff I found between the "wedge" and the scales (as well as between the blade and scales).
Pictures of the final product hopefully coming up in the next few days...
