This week, I returned to wet shaving after decades of shaving with cartridge razors. I cannot believe how close my shave is. I need to thank Badger and Blade and its members, as most of my purchases done over the web were a result of reader comments and postings.
My setup: A Merkur adjustable double edge razor, Merkur blades (came with razor). Proraso preshave, and Cremo Cream shave. I also purchased a generic alum block.
I simply cannot believe what a close have I have gotten. I have a heavy beard, and if I go out at night, I had to shave twice a day. Now, my shave is long lasting and smooth. The alum block has been vital, as I did get nicks on my sensitive neck areas. However, the alum block takes care of it immediately, and I am hope I will nick myself less with experience as I have only shaved with this razor twice. I have purchased a brush and some Colonel Conk soaps and will try this soon. For the moment, I am thrilled with my results, and pleased to be able to say goodbye to cartridge razors.
While shaving this way does take more time, I am enjoying it and regard it as part of my being nice to me rituals. Thanks again to all of you.
