Restoring?

I picked up a vintage gillette adjustable in great working order for under $20.. There is no plating issues at all. My question is I want to polish it up. What products do you/have you guys used to do this? Im am fairly new to the Safety Razor/ Wet Shave game but have certainly jumped right in. I def have the bug and can see myself getting into restoring vintage razors to add to my personal collection so info on this and any other restoration tips would be greatly appreciated!

Congrats on your score. There are numerous how-to threads on cleaning up vintage razors, but a good place to start is with this Wiki article. Post photos, please (we like photos), and don't hesitate to ask questions along the way. There's plenty of expertise here, and folks are generous with good advice.

More often than not you can achieve amazing results with just Scrubbing Bubbles (green can-- avoid the one that contains bleach), an old toothbrush, Q-Tips, Maas or Flitz metal polish and a microfiber cloth.

It's lots of fun bringing a nasty flea market find back to life. Enjoy!

Peek polish is brilliant for bringing out the shine in an otherwise clean razor.

SO I went with several suggestion I came across. Sadly in my haste i did not take before pics as when i received flitz polish i went to town after having already done a sanitizing prelim cleaning. I used my own method as well. I used 99% isopropyl alcolhol and man it totally removed so much soap residue and grime it was amazing. That and a tooth brush and i thought i may be able to not polish. Till I polished with flitz! I am addicted to this. I got the razor for $16.50 plus shipping its a gillette 66 slim adjustable (if i am correct) and i polished it up. It looks and works amazing. I will post at least the after pi.. Next time it will for sure be a before and after!
