Restoring vintage razors

Hey everyone I've been shaving with a DE razor for about ten years now but never restored any. I bought two vintage Gillette's recently and one looked brand new with case and all. The other looks like it was well used over the last 50 years by just as many people and never cleaned. I've gotten the soap scum off but it still looks grimy. Any suggestions on cleaning and polishing?

You can do wonders with Scrubbing Bubbles (green can-- not the yellow one with bleach) and an old toothbrush. Hot water is fine, but don't boil your razors. Polish with Maas or Flitz metal polish-- Q-tips work great for applying the polish, and I like Microfiber cloths for buffing. Go easy with the polishing if your razors are gold plated.

Good luck!
