Ok so here I am still kind of new to DE shaving but I have delved deep and now am making BTS purchases as well as EBAY purchases on some vintage Gillette razors. I now have or soon will have a 57' super speed flair tip , 2x 56' red tips one B-4 one B-2 , and 1936 Aristocrat and till on the prowl for a 1914 and 1915 model. My question is this these razors are anywhere cosmetically 85-90% very good condition they are all 100% functional. For aesthetic reasons how would one go about getting the chrome razors replated or cleaned up and any imperfections such as plate loss taken care of to restore them to near new condition ? I have read something about foil and baking soda but have no clue what anyone is talking about or how to do this for that matter with my luck I'd probably make matters worse. Are there any vendors that will restore here on B&B where would I find them ? is there a easy DIY method I really am handy with certain things and might be willing to try the easier parts of restoration on my own. Any advice is greatly appreciated !!

The foil and baking soda method is just for razors plated in silver. Most razors can be cleaned very well with scrubbing bubbles and a toothbrush, but razors plated in gold, silver, or rhodium may need special care. The wiki on this site has a good section on cleaning/restoration that you should check out.

The wiki was great but I'm more looking for vendors maybe that can replate chrome over brass.... a few of the older Gillette's I just bought have a bit of pitting and chrome loss.... granted they work 100% fine and this is just more for me to refinish them and bring them back to their glory days being shiny and bright. The wiki more just covered how to do basic cleaning and sanitizing.
