Replating material comparison?

Aside from looks, what are the differences between replates in nickel, chrome, gold, and rhodium? Do different ones really last that much longer or wear better (or tarnish less)?

Thanks for the link! My read of that is that chrome, nickel, and rhodium are good options (and nickel is the traditional option) but gold is too soft and discolors with age. Dagnabit, I liked the idea of gold and rose gold!
 
Any razor you get replated in gold (from a quality vendor) will almost certainly outlast you. If you care for your gear like the average (read fanatical) B&B'er, it will likely outlast your children.
