Is there a relationship between the coating on a blade and the type of shave lubricant one uses? It is my understanding that coatings are added to a blade edge to, amongst other attributes, make the blade glide over the skin better. If so, then are different coatings better for different sorts of shave lubricants that one uses. For example:
I do not know. Does anyone out there actually know what the different coatings are good for? Or how does a platinum coat generally shave like vs titanium or teflon? I would love to know.
- A light, soapy, lather may be best with a platinum coating, or
- A heavy coating such as olive oil my be best with an un-coated blade
