Redwing Boots

Redwings have saved my toes a few times now. I'm a lineman, so I'm on my feet all day. I climb and do bucketwork in these. I salute an american made product that really does last. Anyone else wear redwings everyday?

I need to get a new pair though, any suggestions? Been lookin at the 2221's.

I have some Wolverine boots right now and they are good steal toe boots. They have a nice big toe box. I have big toes so if thats an issue for you these are an option.

That said my brother and father both wear Redwings and go freakishly long between replacements. Both get between 3 and 5 years out of the things. That is a quality built boot. I dont know off the top of my head what models they use though.

+1:w00t:

I bought my first Wolverines over twelve years ago, the replacement pair was not the same. Tried many other disappointing boots. I converted to Redwings three years ago, still have another two years in them.

I would rather wear my Redwings than my sneakers any day of the week.

I have lived within walking distance of a Redwing store my entire life and have never once stepped inside (I'm 26). I've never had a need. Despite the fact that I've never once seen anyone inside the store when I've walked or driven past it, it is one of the few constants in the business district in my small town, so their product must be top notch.

My dad was a mechanic at an implement dealership (tractors, combines, etc.) and swore by Red Wing boots. He always suffered from back problems, and after being on concrete all day, he found that Red Wings offered the most support and he felt the best at the end of the day.

I had a pair of these for a summer job while I was in college: http://www.redwingshoes.com/productdetails.aspx?prodid=1151. However, I only paid around $65.00 for mine. There is a Red Wing / Carhartt / Workwear store near my hometown that is family owned and always sold Red Wing factory seconds. The owner would periodically go to the Red Wing factory in Minnesota and bring back a trailer full of shoes. He picked them himself, so it was usually difficult to tell the factory seconds from the regular shoes. They would usually just have a small scuff on the leather, or an eyelet that was the wrong color, etc.

To make a long story short, if any of you are from Indiana and are in the Peru / Logansport area, check out Dale Hardy Supplies. I am in no way affilliated with the store or the owners, its just a really neat place, and there are some decent mom and pop restaurants in the area, too!

I love Red Wings. I've wore a lot of different brands of boots from Wolverine to Walmart Specials and I've always had these thick calouses on my feet. I have to wear steel toe boots all day long and my feet would always feel tired at the end of my shift.....until I bought me a pair of Red Wing's about 2 years ago. I will never buy another pair, my calouses are gone and my feet never get tired anymore. I have the King Toe version. Here's a pic.

I salute an american made product that really does last.

I've worn Redwing Irish Setters for more years than I care to remember but I switched to Danner when Redwing began outsourcing the manufacturing of their product to China.

I check the boots before I buy them to make sure it says made in USA.

Those king toes look nice but the sides aren't stitched on. I'll have to ask my guy about those next time I'm at the shop.

Love Red Wings too, comin' from a narrow back from Seattle!!! :)

I love my Redwing boots. I tried Wolverines for a while. They are durable, but for all day comfort, nothing beats a pair of Redwings.

I used to build houses with Habitat for Humanity in my Redwings. Wore them for years. They hold up, and are super comfortable. Can't ask for more.

I am a Superintendent for a General Contractor (Commercial Construction) and wear Red Wings Everyday and have for the past 10 years.Been Wearing the 914 model ever since they came out !!!

I wore Redwing boots for more than twenty years, until they discontinued the boot I liked and stopped making 6E widths. Searching the internet for 6E width boots lead me to Westco, they didn’t offer a boot that wide, but they make custom boots for about the same cost as their off the shelf boots, they will also resole and if needed completely rebuild any pair of boots they make. The last three pair of boots I bought were "Made to Fit" by Westco.

I recommend taking a look.

I have a pair of these that I wear almost every day:

I'm a social worker so I'm not too hard on my boots, but it's nice to have something that's reasonably tough, wears forever (I'm going on 2 years now and they're still comfy) and looks good. I just wish I'd gotten the 6 inchers lol, these are a PIA to get on and off everyday!

BTW the only boots/shoes that I've ever had that actually feel better the longer in the day it gets.

I have to admit though that more times then not now I wear a lace up pair of sketcher work boots instead which are pretty comfy.
