Red Tips: wow, what a great razor

I received it along with a few other razors last week, and finally decided to give it a chance. Loaded it up with an Astra Platinum.

Wow, it's a nice aggressive razor. I think more so than my Slim on '5'. And smooth.

I did some "blade buffing" and ended up with a BBS. :thumbup1:

This is an underrated razor.

I like my Red tip as well. They have a great feel to them with the extra weight, compared to other super speeds.

Indeed.

I think it was also a bit nimbler than my Slim, so you've got a nice combination of weight and size.

I wonder if anyone knows this: I use isopropyl as part of my cleaning regime - will that take the paint off the red tip?

According to the aggressiveness chart, a red tip is as aggressive as a Slim on 3

My red tip is my favorite too. Even though I am giving face time to my old type at the moment... I must disagree with you on one point though. I don't think it is underrated. Most people speak quite highly of the red tip and all super speeds in general.

One of the best SS's available. Not sure if I agree that they're underrated, they go pretty fast on the B/S/T.

The were certainly one of the best razors produced. They give a better shave than alot of high end razors and they can be picked up for a very good price as well.

How does the Red Tip compare to a Merkur HD? I know it's a matter of preference, but what about size, weight, aggressiveness, smoothness, quality, etc.?
