Recommendations for a shave soap for sensitive skin

I am trying to get some variety in my shaving routine. I have sensitve skin and have been using VDH (orange puck) and Proraso (white) with pretty good results. Are there any other good soaps for sensitive skin that anyone can recommend?

Thanks!

If you have sensitive skin and are interested in Mama Bear's, I would not recommend getting one with a scent. I don't think my skin is that sensitive, yet I could not take the burning/irritation from the scented soaps. Don't get me wrong...the lather is awesome. But I would recommend Unscented.

I've tried to stick with sensitive-type products for a while and find that Dr. Bronner's isn't bad (though I haven't had much luck actually lathering the stuff very well); I've also had no irritation from Kiss My Face varieties.

Try something all natural with possibly a little bit of Tea Tree Essential Oil which is great for sensitive skin. Also, Patchouli Essential Oil is supposed to be for people with sensitive skin. I have sensitive skin, too, and Lemongrass does not irritate my skin. :) Also, I would recommend telling the seller you have sensitive skin. They may be able to custom make you something with lighter oils.

I have reactions to a lot of stuff but like you, I can generally use the VDH line and Proraso White without much trouble. Some other soaps I have found that do not bother me:

Harris Almond
Speick
Palmolive
Arko

All are wonderful latherers, all are used regularly by me, and so far I've had nary a reaction to any of them, even though Palmolive and Speick are quite fragrant. I am convinced - tallow is good.

I have very sensitive skin and I would recommend L'Occitane Cade, Palmolive, Valobra, Provence Sante, Pre De Provence, and possibly Speick. I have had really good luck with these. I also use the Proraso sensitive which you already use and really like it a lot!

I personally have not had good luck with the melt and pour soaps such as the Mama Bear's and Honeybee Spa, and I believe it is due to the scents because they are just so strong on the scents that my face just can't take it. So if you do try one of these I would get unscented or possibly an essential oil blend.

Soaps in general though have been better for me than creams. It's just the melt and pour, and then also DR Harris and T&H that I had problems with.

Good luck!
J.

I'll recommend Art of Shaving Unscented Soap, Cella and Valobra stick. All 3 produce very protective lather for me.

What exactly do you mean by 'sensitive skin'? If you're concerned about razor burn and irritation, EVERYONE here thought they had sensitive skin (and a particularly tough beard!) before they learned proper technique.

Not razor burn...that has dramatically reduced since switching to a DE razor. Many products ie sun blocks, some lotions, face soaps, aftershaves, etc. cause my neck to burn, turn red, and break out.
