What's new

Recommend me a watch.

I have posted a few questions here but after realizing that trying to replicate the watch I want at a lower price point is just going to make me bitter I am willing to save up for the Tag I really want down the road (not the most premium but I have wanted one for a long time so that is the first grail).

That said I would really like to add a dressier watch to the stable of the Gen 2 Blue Angles Citizen Skyhawk and Casio Mudman I have. I have read through the watch u wearing thread for some thought already.

Ideally:
Automatic
Swiss made
Simple 3 hand face (no need for Chrono but if it has a date or day function cool)
Leather band (or metal that can be switched easily back and forth)
Black or white face
$350-500 range

Now none of these are set in stone. i.e. If a watch meets the criteria but its Quartz okay, or is a Japanese or German watch vs Swiss etc.

(also for reference I really like the looks of a Rolex submariner but I need to buy a house and other things first before I buy one of those)

Please go forth and help me spend money!

+1 for Christopher Ward, though when you say 'dressy' this is what comes to my mind. It is within your price range

A sub style watch from CW on a bracelet is a bit above your budget. They come in a few color variations also.

I am also an unabashed Steinhart fan, they have sub style watches well within your range like this one:

If you're interested in antiques, you could get a really cool (swiss) watch for short money. It will require more research, but it's something I would definitely consider if I was looking for a third watch. I have an Omega automatic and a Breitling that I bought a long time ago when I was single :)

Have a look at Oris watches. They are quite well regarded, and have a number of models that should fit your criteria.

Have a look at Steinhart watches, they are basically Rolex "homage" watches; Swiss made ETA movements, Germany designed and manufactured watches.

The Ocean Vintage Military is a fantastic looking watch, with the patina look of the hour markers that is going to look great on either the original steel bracelet but if you slap that on a vintage stressed brown leather strap then you've got a fine looking time piece!

For the price, you cannot beat Orients, IMO. They are now owned by Seiko, but still make their own movements.
