So ive been searching for a new brush and there are just too many different ones to choose from, so I thought I would get some feedback from you guys. I started shaving about 3 months ago, but I don't really have a lot of time to spend on shaving each morning, I live in a dorms and have 4 roommates. I usually end up shaving every other day.
So I just copied and pasted the 'checklist' from the brush picking and buying thread.
1. My current brush is a pure badger vulfix. I got it for ~$30 on amazon so I dont exactly know the model number.
2. I dont really have a preference as to either soaps or creams. I have taylors sandalwood soap as well as the lavender cream. I also have the arko cream and the Palmolive lemon cream. I prefer to lather in a bowl.
3. My vulfix right now I think is kind of small and not very densely packed. I would also prefer a softer brush. Ive also noticed that after I get done with a pass my face seems very dry and almost irritated. I don't really get razor burn although I think with the Taylor lavender it does something to my skin that makes aftershave burn a bit. Then again ive only been shaving for about 3 months and it could just be my technique.
4. I have really no preference as to what the brush looks like.
5. I would prefer a brush as cheap thats really cheap but I know thats probably not gonna happen. Im willing to go probably up to $80 and thats probably pushing it.
6. I want something bigger than my current vulfix which has a ~20mm knot size and ~48mm loft length (I think thats the right term)
7. The Edwin Jagger best badger has my interest, but ive read that it is a little bit on the stiff side. Im not sure how that would compare to my pure badger though.
8. This most likely wont be my last brush, but it definitely will be my only brush that I buy for a long time.
I also had a question about the shavemac website. On the website they have the traditional lines which are silvertip brushes, and some of them can be under the cost of even the finest badger. I was just wondering why there is such a price difference.
Well I await your feedback and thank you in advance for any help, and let me know if you need any more information.
