recommend a brush

I'm getting into face lathering with creams namely C.O. Bigelow. I currently have a 9 dollar Shea Moisture pure badger brush. Now that I feel dedicated to the art I'm thinking of getting a better brush. 75.00 is what I'm willing to spend but of course cheaper is a plus. I prefer function & form over style if I had to choose, but a brush that has both and for my price range would be amazing. Thanks for your time!

Check Simpson's range of Best Badger hair brushes and find a handle style that appeals and you won't go wrong. A Rooney 1/1 would also serve you admirably.

75 USD?
With a bit of searching I figure that is both a good boar and a badger!

For instance:

USD 24 will give you the highly appreciated Semogue SOC:

USD 16 for the 620:

So 60 USD left for a badger!

A New Forest will give you a very luxurious Silvertip or a nice two band for only 35 GBP shipped:

Also within that range:

The EJ BEst

The Wee Scot

The 46 Berkeley

Or a Vulfix 2233S

All from Westcoastshaving.

If you stick to one brush I suggest the Eagle G2 by Simpson:

Good luck!

+1 on the Semogue Owners Club, 620, 830 or a Simpson in Best. The classic and Duke lines are classic face lathering brushes.

Another great option would be a TGN Finest set at a low loft. The 22-26 are all nice depending on how big you like your brushes, just set the loft between 45 and 50mm.

Personally I'd stay away from Pure grades as they are to prickly for my tastes, but YMMV.

I'm leaning towards a Simpson Eagle G2 (Best) or Berkeley 46 (Pure). Which do you guys think would be better for face lathering? The Berkeley seems quite smallish? My face isn't that big though I'd say small-medium sized.

The Eagle is in Pure and Berkeley is in Best. The Simpson Best knots are fantastic, and would recommend the Berkeley for that reason.

Thanks for the correction, I must've mixed 'em up after reading about each. Seems the Berkeley would be the better choice based on feedback so far. I'm guessing that since no one addressed it's size, it's a non-issue.
