Razorine type razor?

Was wondering what this barber is using at the 13 minute mark or so?
I've noticed some of these Japanese barbers using them.
They seem like a Razorine, and one of the barbers actually IS using a Razorine in one of the videos.

Yes but there are other systems too. One I have been less successful (had it once but forgot again) in tracking down is another Haircut Harry video.

Or this one:

Both are using Razorine type of razors.
I can't find where they are buying these from (the Razorine types). Can't even locate a Razorine.
Probably good because it looks like I might hurt myself with it LOL 🤣

Razorine comes in a regular DE razor with handle as well :ihih: just saying.

And they can be easily bought in both varieties at Shavenation.

Actually a great razor that obviously requires some attention. But the shave can be very rewarding.

My big gripe with the Razorine (which I've tried) and its cousin the Flatboy (which I've not tried) has to do with that head design. I don't get along well with slack untensioned blades. The Razorine has a really skinny handle, which doesn't offer much leverage if the razor blade hits a tough patch and begins to torque the razor. I've seen some suggestions here and there to get a can of that handle dip stuff they use on tools, or else to put a couple layers of heat-shrink tubing on it.

I've seen a number of European razors that don't tension the blade much; must be a thing but using one's not a skill I have mastered.

O.H.

I can follow that thought completely. The Flatboy is blade dependent too. With some blades it is pure bliss and with others you are taping havoc. Well I do at least. Still, I like the razor quite a lot as that same blade slack if you will is providing me audio feedback on the effectiveness of my angle and whether or not I am shaving efficiently or not.

And I get that. :) I made a devette out of a RazoRock BBS-SB. My choice was on the basis of the BBS having some pretty impressive blade clamping and tensioning; almost at helical slant levels. It holds a DE blade firmly enough to do WTG and XTG but I have troubles going ATG with it.

On the other hand I have a SlimGem Mantis SE which is essentially a Gemish sevette. Even though the Gem blade is held in plastic instead of rigidly clamped in metal, the stiffness of the blade itself means I can go ATG with a bit of care. Using the Mantis I think has developed that aspect of my technique to the point that revisiting ATG with the devette might be productive.

Fooling with naked edges sounds really dangerous but the fact is I get some of the best shaves from them, if I take the care they demand.

I saw that Fatip recently released a (vaguely Razorine style) shavette (closed and open comb), perhaps that would have more of the blade tension you want. Another plus is that you could swap the handle to whatever you like with the correct thread size. (Sorry to derail from the thread)

Interesting! Not a derail in my opinion. I'm not sure if they're still selling it, but RazoRock had the "Switch" razor that was essentially the same as the Fatip you showed.

Further on that...

Now try to actually find one in North America. :18: I also got linked to that seller above on my search. Well, they're in Italy so that tells me shipping would be about three times the cost of the razor. I had the same problem when looking for a Universal Mezza Lama or Lama Interra -- plenty of them in Europe but unless I wanted to take out a second mortgage to pay the shipping I won't ever have one.

I might not actually want one but not being able to get one makes me want it...

Poor, poor pitiful me. There. Somebody had to say it.

It looks similar to a RR switch...
