"Razor Wire!" The quick and easy(cheap&lazy)way to add razor storage to your vanity!

Because of the kindness of a B&B member, I was compelled to think of and find a new way to store some newly loaned razors in my very small vanity.

I had three necessities. That however they were stored, the razors take up as little space as possible, that they be very easy to see, and that the razors be very easy to get to and use.

Well, not being so handy, not having the funds to buy a new razor storage box, not having time, using what I had on hand at that very moment, and most important of all, being fairly to moderately lazy on my days off...this, is what I came up with.

I had two eye hooks and some wire from a picture framing kit that had not been used. I had some empty space above the top shelf of my bathroom vanity that was unused. I screwed in the two eye hooks, one on either side of the vanity, as close to exactly opposite of each other in height and depth as possible.

I then strung the wire between the two eye hooks and wrapped the slack around each eye hook to secure it. That's it. Done.

Voilà! Instant razor storage! or a great place to hang and dry extremely small clothing.

Now its not the most ornate way to store your razors, but it is easy, simple to do, provides quick easy access to razors without a chance of being cut (if they are still loaded with a blade), and it looks simple and dare I say...elegant, since you really only see the razors.

FYI - I haven't tested many razors, but my 2 and 3 piece razors seem to hang just fine, Turn-to-open razors are just as easy, open the doors a bit, slip wire in, close doors enough to keep razor in place, no need to close the doors tightly.

I think this would look even better with more wires and more razors!

Hope you enjoyed my "Razor Wire!" storage system. haha

Very nice Jim, you should string together a bunch for your tree at christmas.

I also have a plan for my razors, I have 3 gillettes on the way and my wife came up with the idea of putting a shadow box with little hooks in it to display them. I figure 9 squares would make a nice display so I guess I need to buy some more huh?

Nice idea, I think you may have to run the wire tighter to keep the razors from sliding on the wire as you remove one.

Looks pretty scary to me. I wouldn't want them dropping into the sink or where ever from that height.

Careful!

Only 9 squares? Remember to allow room for future RAD, so build it with 16, 25, 36 ... no matter how many razors you fill it with, I'd always leave one spot open for that "Holy Grail" razor.

Excellent idea. Do you have a problem with knocking one off when you reach for the razor next to it?

No, they are pretty secure. The tto's can't fall off, as the doors are closed on the wire. The other razors stay on fine, they are more secure than they look.

They don't move at all, but I wanted the wire tighter as well, then when it kind of arched like that I just lef ***.

Well, we don't get many earthquakes in Chicago, so I think I'll be safe. Seriously though, they are more secure than they look. When I made it I was VERY concerned about whether they would fall off easy, but the tto's can't fall, and the other razors haven't fallen either.
