razor rotation

I've heard the reference to razor rotation many times. Is this just because a guy has a number of razors or is there really a reason to rotate the ones you have?

It's an excuse to acquire/use more razors.

At one time there was this theory that razors needed to "rest" to let their edge recover it's shape after the beating it took from the shave. This effect has been observed on knives, and is probably also true for razors, but stropping also restores the shape of the edge without the wait... This idea that there's some sort of "need" for resting the razor was pretty well debunked once we realized that barbers used the same razor many times a day on customers and never seemed to notice this supposed value of resting them.

SSSSSHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh!!!!

It is ESSENTIAL that razors be rested. They will last much much longer that way. You need to acquire a number of razors to allow this rotation - this is the official B&B advice to the spouses and significant others of all wet shavers I understand

It's just a way of making sure you get to use all your razors on a regular basis. I think I must have ADD because I struggle to shave with the same razor two days in a row.

The DE guys rotate their DEs and the brush collectors rotate their brushes for the same reason. And lots of guys rotate through their creams and soaps. Variety is the spice of life.

OK, I will use this and post it somewhere obvious in the bathroom and the frontroom and on the porch, etc.
