Razor Pics

I received my two new Merkurs from BullGoose Shaving today. A Merkur 1904 and a Merkur 39C Sledgehammer Slant. I know they aren't vintage razors but I think they look pretty fine.

Let me tell you the Sledgehammer Slant is amazing. If all you wanted out of this hobby was a single razor that gave a consistently fabulous shave, you need look no further.

I can't wait until tomorrow morning to try it out. The heft feels amazing. Looks like the 1904 is going to be the poor wingman who goes home alone for a while.

Congrats on two excellent razors!!

Don't underestimate the 1904 by any means. Load it with a good quality blade, tighten it down and then back off the handle about 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn---you will get a close, smooth and very comfortable shave.

I originally bought the 1904 OC and an HD at the same time. The HD while a great razor has become my "poor wingman who goes home alone"....The 1904 is a really nice razor. That being said, I do occasionally like breaking out the HD--it's a very different, but satisfying shave tho' for me not as comfortable..

Thanks for the tips. I'm definitely going to try them both. Too many razors, too little face.

Your next sample packs should include feathers, and some different blades.

I have the same razors and there both great. I have a couple vintage razor also and I frankly don't see the hubbub. I like Merkurs E.J.'s and Muhle's better.
