Razor Mass

Having obtained a Sanguine from Gilgamesh, I now own:

Dovo Shavette: very light
Sanguine: rather heavy

DE89: rather heavy
Merkur Travel: very light

I have concluded that I like the feel, control and results of the light razors much better than the heavy ones. I have to say I am more than a bit baffled as to why. It is not like I have a problem with the weight of a razor.

The best combination for me is the Dovo with a Personna in it, followed by the Travel with a Feather in it. The very worst combination is the Sanguine with a Feather in it.

I would surely like to hear from you.

Yes, indeed. I own a couple of them.

Perhaps you like having the option of using pressure at your own discretion? If so a lighter razor would allow you to do so more than it would if it were heavier.

I think you might be right on the money, Chris. I find I get more irritation/burn with the heavier razors, indicating more pressure?

That's interesting as it's the other way around for me... If I use a NEW with a light handle vs a NEW with Bull Mastiff I get a better result with a heavier razor...
