R.I.P. - Parker 22R

My beloved 22R pulled its own plug this morning. Closing on a new Gillette 7-O'Clock Sharp Edge, one of the "silo" doors just popped off.

For six months it has been my go-to, a remarkably good unit from the notoriously inconsistent quality Parker line. Learned to shave all over again with this razor.

And my Dorco ST-300s just don't work the same in my Merkur 12C, although they're just fine there too...

Anyway, perhaps this dear departed DE might raise some eyebrows at the recycling center.

How bad is it? It might be fixable... I gave my Parker to my brother in law who immediately cranked down on it too hard and popped off the silo doors... I looked at it closely and it just has a couple of tabs that hold them on. They weren't broken, but had only popped out of their holes, so I popped them back in just fine.

It goes without saying that it's a cheaply made razor, but you might still be able to shave with it.

I considered trying to repair, but I've already said my good-bye.
Besides, I'm enjoying speculating on the recyclers' reaction as they're separating the small pieces of scrap metal (including my 22R) from the paper and plastic.

My opinion? Toss that sucker and don't look back. Mine never closed right, even after tinkering with it over and over.

I loved my old Parker 91r :) Then I got a slant and gave the 91r to my brother. Pisses me off... he hasn't even tried it yet.
