Question for C&S 88 Wearers

I have recently been trying to narrow down my sporadic, wide variety of cologne use to a more constant routine. I want to find a signature scent, and just mix it up occasionally, but have a smell that people will identify with me. So far, only one scent fits that description: you probably guessed C&S 88 and would be correct. My only problem is it has HORRID staying power on me. It's especially frustrating because I read all these reviews (on here and basenotes) about great longevity and silage, but I'm not so lucky. I suppose it might just be my body chemistry.

Now, my usual cologne application consists of just one spray to my lower neck, right at the pulse point. With most of my colognes this will last approximately 5 hours, give or take. I have a cologne or two that I need to apply two sprays to achieve this result, but I don't mind. With C&S 88 I have been wearing two sprays to my neck and one to my wrist (which I then rub on my other wrist) and the scent is gone in about TWO hours. It's really quite disheartening... I'm wondering if those of you out there who get good longevity from their 88 could tell me how/where they apply it. Perhaps I need to change something up to get this cologne to stick around... Any advice is appreciated!

Try doing a shot or 2 to your chest instead of your lower neck. This way when you put your shirt on a bit of the scent will get into the fabric. I find this helps the scent to last.

The other thing is that though you might not be smelling it, the scent could still very well be there. Your nose may become a bit desensitized after awhile; however, the people around you may still be very aware of the scent. If your girlfriend (or another trusted friend) could give you feedback on this you'll know for sure.

Good luck!

I really don't have good longevity with many scents. My body just burns it off. I normally do a spray on the chest, one on the neck and one on the wrists rubbed together. I carry an atomizer of the scent I'm wearing though and reapply through out the day if my scent doesn't hold up. I also take a few showers a day because we get a little "fragrant" at my job so I have the opportunity to reapply a few times.

C&S 88 doesn't have horrible staying power with me but I get a couple of hours out of it, if I'm lucky. If you carry a dopp kit keep an atomizer in there and if you don't carry one just pocket the thing. Doesn't take up much space and keeps you smelling awesome for the whole day.

Just don't overdo it. I had a cold and reapplied Tom Ford once and got told I smelled like high-priced hooker. Took that as a cue to take a shower.

Well, i suppose this would work if I had a girlfriend or friends :001_tongu But yah, I've discovered that after 2 hours it can really only be detected with a nose right against my skin. I think it just doesn't like my body chemistry... Still, I'm going to experiment with wearing it to see if anything changes (like with your chest spraying idea). Thanks for the advice guys, I'm really hoping I can get some more longevity out of this one. Oh well, if it's the scent I want I guess I will just have to bring around a small decant if that's what it comes down to!
